The Warmup
Supposedly, it’s supposed to warm up this week. And that could very well mean that we are due for “spring” to arrive. We’ve pushed our clocks back an hour, meaning the mornings are darker. But so too are the evenings lighter. That is a good sign that spring is coming soon. I am really hoping that once we hit 40 (supposed to happen on Tuesday), we don’t drop back into the teens (as a high) until next December. It might be wishful thinking, but I’m so ready for winter to be over that I’m willing to entertain some fanciful thoughts.
This weekend has been pretty slow overall. Lauren and I went to see ‘Michael Clayton’ at the cheap theater on Friday. It was a good movie, made great by the fact that it only cost us $6 total to see it. Surprisingly, the theater was pretty busy. I guess a lot of folks missed it the first time around and wanted to see it (as it was a Best Picture nominee). It’s out on DVD, but it was definitely nice to see it on the big screen rather than rent it. Saturday we did some shopping and a fair amount of sitting around. Today, we had lunch with Katie, and now are sitting in Barrique’s in Middleton, the smell of a hot miel drifting up to me.
Not much else to write about I guess. The ‘Project Runway’ finale was on Wednesday and the annoying Christian won. His collection was mostly made up of boring, all black looks, and was overall a disappointment. But, since no other winners have gone on to do much of anything, I think they went with Christian rather than the others, as the money will mean the most to him. So, cheers for capitalism, if nothing else.
Bush vetoed a bill banning water-boarding, even though we aren’t supposed to be doing that anymore (and weren’t supposed to be doing it in the first place). He makes me sick. Meanwhile, I suspect we’ll hear a lot more talk about Iraq and “the surge” since McCain is the Republican nominee. And it seems like the end of the Democratic contest isn’t happening any time soon either. I’m pretty sick of politics, which may very well be a first for me.
Hope all of your weeks start off well!
