Go Brett Favre!

I’ll be the first to admit – after last year’s season, I wrote the Packers off as finished and called for Brett Favre to retire. He had way too many interceptions, he wasn’t acting like a team player, and the Packers were looking terrible. But this season, so far, it’s been a complete turnaround. The Packers have won their first three regular season games. Favre is breaking the records he was predicted to break (most games won, and now tied for most touchdown passes thrown), and the Packers are winning in the process.

I’ve still got my regular beefs against Favre – he doesn’t protect his receivers, he’s not actively working with backups, and overall, he’s too reckless, but he’s got something going for him this season. I’m not sure what it is, and I’m not much of a football analyzer, but they’ve got it going on.

In other news, aside from noting that the Packers won, I had a nice birthday on Sunday. I got to unwrap some presents from Lauren, including Wii game Mario Strikers Charged, which is tons of fun so far (and structured such that Lauren was enjoying it as well). We also went and bought some tennis rackets and enjoyed playing in the afternoon. I felt I was doing much better than I remembered; it must be all that Wii tennis. Still, we both have a long way to go until we reach pro-level play. Later we laid out on the capital lawn and read magazines. We did that on Saturday as well; it’s a lovely way to relax. Friday night, we had a delicious dinner at La Chardonnay. It was a lovely weekend.

Now back to the grindstone for another grueling week in the workplace. But the countdown is on to Rome. Lauren and I leave on October 6th! Better get in your requests for souvenirs soon!

Ah, happy belated birthday, I guess. You know, around the beginning of the year, I figured out all of my friends’ birthdays and wrote them in a book so I wouldn’t forget this year, then immediately lost the book.

On the topic of presents, though, I found the other half of your Christmas present when I was cleaning my room this weekend, so I’ll have to remember to give that to you (assuming it’s not past the expiration date……).
