Haikus

Okay, so I’ve been absent from writing for quite a while. What have I been doing? Aside from spending a lot of time with Lauren, not a whole lot. I’ve been trying to work less, meaning under 45 hours a week. That’s been quite refreshing. But, one thing I have been doing quite a bit is writing haikus. Lauren has a Hello Kitty Daily Planner with some haikus in it. These haikus remind me of most of a lot of haikus that I’ve read – in a word, bad. So I ended my long standing hatred of haikus and decided to try my hand. Here are a few of the results. Let me know what you think.

Three thousand one hund’
fourteen troops killed so far in
the unjust Bush war.

Complimentary
snacks are provided at 5.
Ask the lobby staff.

I’m forward for words.
Neck out, left out, speech aimed towards
the wordsmith pranksters.

Fixing to be bored –
all stalls call my eyelids down,
left sleeping, dream-drowned.

Sharp darts, traps, arrors,
spears, slings, all wretched weapons
get Smart-Bombed and Blitzed.

Mild mumbles, whisps,
drifted chatter, dusted hush,
subtle shiftings, shush.

Purpose for restrict
’cause the specific limit
isn’t a gimic.

Rushed effots spurned as
thoughtless wastes by worthless raifs.
Missed deadlines drive art.

Iraq daily news:
Gloried horrors of today -
a blood-filled Sheikh-scream.

She’s the can’t-do queen.
“I try, I try.”  That’s a lie.
She’s a flop-eared dog.

The rich-raised spoiled
say Ghetto, mean BlackWorthless,
disguise their hatefear.
