Fresh Meat!

What a show, what a show! For those of you not familiar with the amazing show ‘Fresh Meat’ on MTV, I’ll summarize it for you. Following the traditional Real World/Road Rules Challenge format, teams compete in different challenges looking to survive elimination and make it to the final challenge for a chance at a cash prize. While usually the teams are made entirely of former MTV reality stars, this show switches things up, aligning one former cast member and one entirely new person for 12 teams of two. The drama starts there as the teams compete in two challenges per Exile-cycle. The winning team on the first challenge puts another team into the Exile; the other teams then vote another team in. All teams then compete in another challenge, giving an Exiled team a chance to win and put someone else into Exile. Then the two Exiled teams compete, the winner returning to the house, and the losers going home.

It’s a great show for lots of drama, especially as things get personal. And it’s good for some romance, which inevitably happens on most reality shows. But the best part is absolutely the politics. Especially now as the season winds down (only 4 teams left!) each move to put another team into Exile can make or break the whole group. Will someone betray an alliance because it’s good for the game? And will that choice haunt them when the team they Exiled returns from the challenge ready for revenge? It’s been a pleasure to watch over the whole summer. And since I finally bought a TV cable and strung it around the room to my TV, I could watch the new episode and last week’s as well, which I missed due to moving. It was wonderful.

And now, my evening is winding down, and I’m wondering what to do with the rest of it. Work tomorrow promises to be full of studying, which is never exciting. I’m not dreading it, but I am worried I won’t be able to find enough to do to fill my entire day. It’s nice to be not busy at work, and I am sure I will look back on days like these and wish for a more relaxing time, especially as things get busy around new release times and so on. But what I would really like is a few more activities where there is clear work to do, rather than just me having to completely initiate everything myself. On the other hand, it is nice to have that kind of freedom to map out my day carefully, and work hard to meet my studying goals. I will be happy when I have taken the tests I need to. Even if I fail them, I will at least know what I need to study more. That will be a huge weight off my mind, as I essentially stare at the test right now looming on my calendar with little knowledge of how it’s actually made up.

And that’s about it, I suppose. This is my 200th post! That’s an awful lot. Thanks to those of you who’ve been here since the beginning (or even before that – those of you who read my way old LiveJournal account). I hope you haven’t been completely bored out of your skull.
