Party Prep

In our decision to have people over to our apartment tonight prior to heading out to bars and such, we were all very excited. Oh the joys of having something to invite people to. It’s a thrill to say to someone, hey you should come over to our place tonight. And it’s especially nice when they smile and say, WOW, that’s be great! (to me, that didn’t happen, but reactions were positive nonetheless). But then of course, when you actually have to get ready for the party, it’s a lot of work.

You’ve got to think about lighting. What should we do with the florescents above the cabinets? Leave them on? Keep them off? Color them with something? How about other lights? How dark can the place get? How about the sofas? Remove them? Rearrange them? Use them to create areas at the party (living room vs. kitchen)? And what about the valuables? How many people are coming anyway? And then beverages, of course, are a big deal. What do we buy? What do we make? Do we charge? Have a tip jar? Not to mention music! What’s the perfect playlist? How should it be delivered to the speakers? What is the hottest song of the evening?

We’ve got most of this downpat, but it was work to get it all set. Lots of prep to make this party go off without a hitch. People ought to start coming over at 10, hopefully a little later. There was some question as to if we would actually make it out to bars or not. I am predicting that we will, but you never know. Things might be so hot here that we can’t be dragged away. And I really don’t know how many people are coming. It could be a lot of it could just be a few. I hope for something in the middle. A packed house would be alright, but then there always ends up with more stuff to clean. Of course, using plastic glasses means that cleanup job should go quick and easy.

I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow when I’m taking a break from studying and groupwork. Next week is so busy, I’m trying to get a headstart. So far, I’m behind already!
