Chugging Along

I’m surprised how well I am holding up under this immense pressure. When I looked at this week from the distant perspective of last, I felt there was almost too much work to be done. I had trouble believing that I could get it all completed. But with that creepy schedule I made up outlining the work I had to do, I’ve been able to keep myself motivated and on task. And I’m doing really quite well.

I am nearly done with both my final papers. I could have them done and printed today, but I suspect I will use some time on Wednesday to proofread them and then print them, rather than trying to rush through them today. Both went quite well. I changed my arguments slightly as I went through them, but I feel that that has only made them better. I think they both will be graded highly.

What still concerns me is my story revision for my creative writing class. I have not put in enough time yet to call it even near completed. That will be my big project for this afternoon and evening. At the same time, however, I feel like I know where I am going with it. My concern for that revision has also waned a great deal. At first I was worried because we had been given no information as to how we were to go about revising. This made me think that I had to do a lot in order to get a good grade. I’m not so sure about that now. So rather than revise my shorter story with fewer issues, I went for my first and longer one. I’m planning to cut it a lot, simplify the plotline, and cut some characters. In the end, I think that it will be a lot stronger.

I haven’t yet started studying for my exam on Saturday, but I will on Thursday. Once I get those papers handed in, I have nothing left to do but study for that exam. I can read all the plays, review my notes, create plot diagrams, and do anything else that I want to. I also hope to be able to study some with Megan and Krista. I think it’s always good to bounce ideas off of people. Also, because our essays on the exam so frequently require small bits of knowledge, like character names, it is good to have someone else to quiz you. I will have Thursday afternoon and evening, all of Friday, and Saturday morning as well.

And then after that, I have one distant and easy exam on the 20th. Once that is over, I’m free. My second to last semester will be completed. That’s kind of scary.
