Another Exciting Post
I can’t motivate myself to sit down and write about what happened; there is too much to actually write step by step what went on. There are a few highlights I would like to mention. First off, I had a great time with our new rep. team of Laduma and Jeremy. The three of us get along so well, it’s amazing. We are widely different ages (19, 22, 27) but something beyond Macs connects us. We do all share similar tastes in music, so maybe that helps. But I have never felt better about the people I work with. And Jeremy and Laduma are so MOTIVATED! This is a much different experience than I had with Evan.
Second, there were some really dumb people at training, mostly presenters who work for Apple. One suggested that if a student says they can’t afford a Mac, we suggest they take out a loan. Another said that if we were to set up a users group targetting women, we make it around something they would be interested in, like “sharing pictures with their friends.” Another suggested personal relationships were not a good enough reason for setting up a meeting with a professor about Macs. I found all these suggestions to be completely ridiculous. But anyway…
Third, a rep. from Northwestern, whom I was rooming with, had his birthday on Friday. He decided he would drink a little, and ended up drinking too much. Now, too much is a couple of beers and 8 shots of baby liquor. He completely knocked himself out and missed all of training on Saturday. I can’t believe that he couldn’t drink that much. 8 shots of low alcohol content is nothing to the average Madison student. He is a weak loser. Hey – if you’re going to drink, at least be able to handle your liquor.
And those were the highlights.
In other news, I have decided to start doing some podcasting. Why, you ask, would I want to spend so much time creating a podcast that NO ONE will ever listen to. Why indeed. I don’t know. The only thing I can hope is that someday when I have left this lovely area and gone out into the real world, some people will want to know what I have been up do and thus will want to read my blog and check out my podcast feed. Check for podcasts soon at podcast.thebriz.org. I’ll list the RSS feed address soon.
I had an exam on Monday that went very well. I had gotten a cold and that did not help with my efforts to study. I did not feel completely prepared, which is disturbing for me. But I knew answers to all the questions on early English drama, and was able to talk intelligently (I hope) about all the plays. Overall, I think it went better than I could have hoped and I walked out with a sense of accomplishment.
I had a bit of a row with Mai yesterday. Based on some of my own observations, I wanted to see what was happening with our relationship. Though I had felt that we were best off as friends, I felt that maybe she was thinking things were happening a little bit more. I wanted to know what she was thinking about that. In the end, I believe I confirmed that she does just think of me as a friend. At the same time, there was at least one question she wouldn’t answer, and I believe we ended the conversation with her feeling angry and me not feeling much of anything. I don’t want this friendship to go the way that some others have – starting off strong, and then fading when we realize there are irreconcilible differences. That was high school, mainly, but this friendship feels like one from high school, so who knows. In the end, Brittany, who is also Mai’s friend (indeed, her friend first) and I are going to play Halo on Wednesday night, so things can’t be all that bad. Anyway, we will see if any of this bad blood carries over. I don’t want her to be mad at me because she has no reason to be. At the same time, if she is mad, so be it.
Other than that, my life has been pretty uneventful lately. I do hope you all are doing lots of exciting things. I look forward to hearing about them.
